Instead i discovered this awesome glitch. So as long as there is water under the carpet it will just float. Incidentally if the string is holding a carpet above a deep pit all the ai will see is a deep pit so mobs wont walk over it. Other than that it s the exact same as vanilla minecraft carpet.
