The caulk is applied on the top of the baseboards where the baseboard leaves a gap or the wall creates a gap. Apply the caulk at an even speed to ensure no beads form. Before caulking your baseboards use masking tape on the floor following the length of the baseboard and on the wall 1 16th of an inch above the baseboard. The object is to set the tape at the exact vertical position where the baseboard would make contact with the floor.

Apply tape to the floor and the baseboard edges. The caulk is used on the top of the baseboards to give an exquisite look. Prep the baseboards with painter s tape. A putty knife 5 in 1 tool or wire brush can help dislodge the old stuff run.

This trim is flexible enough to conform to gaps even those intermittent sags between joists. Instead of caulking the bottoms the floor to baseboard junction nail thin strips of quarter round or shoe molding. Caulking is a fairly cost friendly method to seal small thin gaps between the wall and the basement of the floor. Remove any previously applied caulk if any.
